Tucson Triathlon Series
The Tucson Triathlon Series was born in 1994 with a single race. The hope was to ignite interest in multi-sport and create a Tucson tradition. The first race was just short of 100 participants. Last year, each of the three races filled to capacity of over 300 participants with a waiting list. It is advisable to get your entry in at least 8 weeks before the race to ensure a spot.
Each race of the Tucson Triathlon Series takes place on the University of Arizona campus. The race starts with an 825 yard swim at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. Competitors then mount their bikes for a 12 mile ride consisting of three laps around the University of Arizona Campus. Competitors then finish the triathlon with a 3 mile run on the University of Arizona campus.
The Tucson Triathlon Series features three races.
Each race is scored. At the end of the season, overall series champions are crowned. In addition, a series champion is awarded in each age group. You must compete in all 3 events to eligible for the series championship awards. Your time for the 3 races is totaled and ranked to determine to the best overall time. Your age on December 31 of the current year is your age for all 3 series events.
TriTucson also features a youth event, held in conjunction with the Firecracker Triathlon, in July. The distances are 1/3 of the adult distances.
